Lets Go Marlins

It’s over

September 25th, 2005 @ 6:22:49 AM

Put a fork in the Marlins ’cause they’re done. What a shame. At the beginning of the season the Marlins on paper looked like the team to beat but things never jelled. I wonder how the team will look next year after a whirlwind cleansing of the roster. This time the fans can’t blame the owner. Luria has done everything right except for keeping D-Lee. That’s a whole different subject. In the 4-3 loss the other night D-Lee stretches for the ball and we are out of the inning and Jones comes in for the ninth to close out the game. Instead, Delgado non-chalantly reaches for the ball and the runner is called safe. I hate the way Delgado plays the game. He is a terrible fielder, he doesn’t hustle, he’s not a team leader, and terrible base runner. He should have stayed in the AL as a DH. Luria should have paid D-Lee his money and we quite possibly would have been in a better situation than we are now.

Nice base running

Great play by Gonzalez! The last time I saw that was in little league.

Mikey’s back?

September 23rd, 2005 @ 7:01:07 PM

I thought Mike Lowell was back from batting hell, but that last at bat was nauseating. If we make a run, Mike must produce. Let’s cross our fingers!

Bravo Burnett

September 20th, 2005 @ 9:28:10 PM

Burnett FINALLY comes out with a good performance. He made one bad pitch to Floyd which essentially lost the game. As usual when Burnett pitches well, he receives no run support. I just don’t think the Marlins are in synch this year and probably won’t be there in October. I hope I’m wrong but too many things go south unlike 2003 when everything fell into place.

Poor pitch position

September 20th, 2005 @ 9:17:41 PM

Once again the Marlins don’t execute. Moehler did a great job getting Floyd with an outside and down curveball, so why does he throw Jacobs(the rookie) a fast ball that splits the plate?
It’s a shame that the Marlins out hit the Mets and can’t come out with a win, but why should they win with 0-fers from Cabrera and Pierre? Bench Pierre!!

Jack’s moves good

September 20th, 2005 @ 8:42:01 PM

Jack has done a masterful job in juggling his roster tonight which is obviously banged up. Whether he wins or loses tonight; he’s done a good job. This is in direct contrast to the other night when he allowed Dontrelle to pitch the ninth inning. Instead, he should have brought in Jones to pitch the entire inning instead of putting him the compromising position of first and third with no outs. That was a must win game, as all these games are now.
